Subject: GABBA Connection the best in the country
Good morning all,
I thought I would pass on this good news to you.
During the recently completed Ashes tour of Australia by the English cricket team there was an unprecedented influx of media to all the cricket grounds to cover the games.
Each of the states provided wireless broadband for the media to post their various stories and photographs back to the various news agencies represented.
Queensland was the first port of call and we set up 150 odd media and photographers onto the IntraPower powered network. We set up six connections over at the ground and under the advisement of Steve Dyer installed a Cisco router for the main media connection.
The system did not miss a beat and was only down once when the whole ground was without power on the morning of day 5.
Queensland Cricket supported this network for five days with at least one IT person on site the whole time and after the initial set-up had only minor housekeeping functions to perform.
When the media returned to Brisbane for the one day cricket in January, Lyle received feedback from the English press that our service was far and away the best in the country. Adelaide dropped in and out all the time, Perth was too expensive (they were the only state to charge for the service), Melbourne and Sydney did not work.
I would like to acknowledge the efforts of your organisation in helping us to achieve the outcomes we did and especially Steve and Rajesh for their patience and help in the lead up to the game making sure it all connected and ran smoothly.
I would be more than happy to be quoted in a case study for you in the future if you require it.
